Among the sporting events organized by the USAF, a series of running/jogging virtual competitions goes under the name of «History & Heritage»: each event is dedicated to an historical USAF plane. The 2022 programme can be found here https://www.usafmarathon.com/virtual-series-2022/). Usaf historian Tony Landis kindly let me know that the July 2022 would be dedicated to the XF-85 Goblin.
The virtual event allows subscribed participants to choose which distance to run, and to decide in which moment of the month they will run, provided that it's in the reference month. After the run, they can enter their time on a special "result" page.
All the participants, regardless to their result, wheather or not they enter their time, will receive a set of amenities including a downloadable race bib, a commemorative patch, a 3.5” finisher&rquo;s medal with sublimated ribbon portraying the featured aircraft, a 3.5” x 5” information card on the featured aircraft and its history, and a custom downloadable finisher certificate.
With the commemoration of the XF-85 at stake, I took the thing even too seriously. Considering that by default the result page is displayed in order of compilation, my first concern was to be the first one to run, and the first one to enter my time. To that purpose, I began my Virtual 10km run exactly at 06:00 on 1 July 2022, corresponding to 00:00 in Dayton, Ohio.
A couple of hours later I compiled the first line of the result page with my time, also uploading a picture with the GPX track and the timing of my run. That way, I secured the top line in the results.
To my joy and amazement, at the beginning of August, when the virtual 10km was over, my time was still the best! So, I feel that I fully deserved the medal and the other amenities pictured here under.

L'evento virtuale consente ai partecipanti iscritti di scegliere quale distanza correre, e di decidere in quale momento correre, a patto che sia nel mese di riferimento. Dopo la corsa, essi possono inserire il loro tempo in un'apposita pagina "risultati".
A prescindere dal loro risultato, tutti i partecipanti, che inseriscano il loro tempo o meno, riceveranno un set di gadget che comprende un numero di gara scaricabile dal sito web, un patch ricamato commemorativo, una medaglia di partecipazione del diametro di circa 9cm con nastro stampato a sublimazione raffigurante l'aereo in questione, una scheda informativa 9cm x 13cm circa sullo stesso aereo, e un certificato di partecipazione personalizzato, anche esso scaricabile dal Web.
Essendoci in gioco la commemorazione dell'XF-85, ho preso la faccenda fin troppo seriamente. Considerato che, di default, la pagina dei risultati è visualizzata in ordine di compilazione, la mia prima preoccupazione è stata essere il primo a correre, e il primo a registrare il mio tempo. A questo scopo, ho iniziato la mia Virtual 10km esattamente alle 06:00 dell'1 luglio 2022, corrispondenti alle 00:00 a Dayton, Ohio.
Dopo un paio d'ore, ho inserito il mio tempo nella prima riga della pagina dei risultati, caricando anche un'immagine con la traccia GPX e il tempo della mia corsa. Così, mi sono assicurato la prima riga nei risultati.
Con mia gioa e stupore, all'inizio di agosto, con la virtual 10km di Luglio già conclusa, il mio tempo era ancora il migliore! Così, sento di aver pienamente meritato la medaglia e gli altri articoli qui sotto raffigurati.
